Mandatory Residential Recycling

Most residential areas in Imperial County participate in a three-bin curbside pickup available through their respective city's contracted trash hauler. Material collection is merely the initial stage in establishing a functional recycling process. Other recyclable materials are accepted at IVRMA's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) curbside drop-off locations (Brawley, El Centro, Calexico).

Whether you’re a long-time recycler or brand new, we want to make it even easier to recycle. Do your part—"close the loop"—and buy products made of recycled materials whenever possible. To discover the many different and innovative ways to recycle, please take a look at the Five R's below to find out how easy it is to reduce, repair, reuse, recycle, and rot your waste at home.

If you commit to these five actions, there is little that must be thrown away. Choosing to follow the Five R’s ensures that resources are saved and/or reused, and the volume of waste is reduced. By keeping these actions in mind when purchasing, using, and disposing of materials, you will have done more than your share to keep our county clean and beautiful.

You can lead the way to a more sustainable household by educating your family, friends, and co-workers on how to differentiate between recyclable and non-recyclable materials.

Let deciding what to eat for dinner be the biggest household dilemma you face, and we’ll teach you how to recycle right.
